We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new Financial Services partners: Irene Nic Chárthaigh and Alan Burns. The appointments reflect the strong growth of the Financial Services sector team, acting for Irish pillar banks and global investment banks active in Ireland. Advisory work on financial services regulation also continues to grow.

Irene Nic Chárthaigh specialises in high value, loan portfolio disposals and acquisitions as well as loan-on-loan financing. She is a trusted advisor to a range of financial institutions from major Irish banks and private equity funds to international investment banks and corporate borrowers. Irene’s wide-ranging expertise covers a variety of areas including real estate and corporate financing. She has a proven track record of working on multi-jurisdictional financing transactions.

Alan Burns has more than 15 years’ experience advising domestic and international lenders and borrowers with a particular focus on corporate finance and development finance. Working across a variety of sectors means that he has strong industry knowledge. His in-house experience means that he has a keen understanding of commercial drivers for organisations. Alan frequently advises on matters involving alternative lending structures, particularly in the area of investment funds. He also acts for liquidators in court-supervised corporate insolvencies.

Liam Flynn, Partner and Head of the Financial Services sector team, said: “As one of the largest and most dynamic financial services legal teams in Ireland, we are delighted to welcome Irene and Alan to the partnership. In the face of unprecedented change in the sector, these appointments underscore our commitment to providing clients with unparalleled financial services experience combined with the best possible legal advice and service.”

Irene Nic Chárthaigh commented, “I welcome the opportunity to continue to support clients through complex loan portfolio transactions and to expand my contribution to the firm’s continued growth.

Alan Burns added, “I look forward to working collaboratively with clients and colleagues across the firm to further develop my finance law practice and to build on the team’s outstanding reputation in the market.”
