Micheál is a partner in our Financial Services team and former Head of our London Office. Micheál advises financial institutions, funds, corporates and private equity on real estate finance, syndicated credit facilities, tax driven financing structures and acquisition finance as well as development, construction and project finance in the renewables and data centre sectors.
He continues to advise a variety of stakeholders on the acquisition, financing and servicing of large non-performing loan portfolios. He also advises clients with respect to “loan on loan” financing, distressed asset sales and restructuring.

Representative Matters
- Advised Bank of Ireland in financing and re-financing the acquisition of a number of multi-unit residential developments by a US sponsored ICAV with a number of sub-funds.
- Advised a leading US co-location data centre provider in relation to the acquisition, construction, financing and refinancing of an 18MW data centre in Dublin, as well as the acquisition and development of further sites.
- Advised Permanent tsb on the €2.1bn Project Glas loan portfolio sale, the largest non-performing sale of its kind in the Irish market.
- Advised Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. as agent in respect of syndicated facilities advanced to a leading Irish specialist clothing manufacturer and secured over assets located in Europe, Asia, the US and the Channel Islands.
- Advised an international investment bank on the financing of the acquisition by a US private equity fund of an Irish development finance lending platform.
- Advises large private equity funds with respect to the acquisition and financing of loan portfolios (performing, non-performing, secured and unsecured) in Ireland and across Europe (using Irish structures).
