Advising Highfield Solar and ib vogt on divestment of Irish solar portfolio

We were pleased to advise Highfield Solar Limited and ib vogt on the divestment of a 272MWp Irish solar photovoltaic portfolio at an enterprise value of approximately €230 million. ib vogt is an international renewable energy development platform.

The portfolio comprises three large-scale solar projects located across Ireland:

  • the 94.7MWp Gaskinstown project in County Meath
  • the 107.7MWp Rathnaskilloge project in County Waterford, and
  • the 69.4MWp Clonin North project in County Offaly

Each project benefits from a 15-year capacity agreement under Ireland’s Renewable Electricity Support Scheme – RESS 2.

All three projects were developed by Highfield Solar, a joint venture in which ib vogt is a partner. Rathnaskilloge was fully owned by ib vogt, while Gaskinstown and Clonin North were owned by Highfield Solar. ib vogt led all three transactions.

Gaskinstown and Rathnaskilloge are already operational and were sold to international institutional investors in December 2025. The Clonin North project is expected to enter operation in mid-2026, with completion of its sale expected following commissioning.

Commenting on the transaction, William Dillon-Leetch, Corporate Partner, said:

“These transactions demonstrate the continued strength of institutional demand for high-quality, RESS-backed renewable energy projects in Ireland. We were pleased to support Highfield Solar Limited and ib vogt on transactions of this scale and strategic importance.”

Eoin Cassidy, Energy Sector Lead, added:

“Large-scale solar continues to play an increasingly important role in Ireland’s energy transition. The divestment of this portfolio highlights the maturity of the Irish solar market and the value of coordinated legal, regulatory and commercial advice in delivering successful outcomes for developers.”

The Mason Hayes & Curran transaction team was led by William Dillon-Leetch and included:

KPMG acted as exclusive financial adviser on the transactions.
