Investigations and Inquiries

• Conducting internal and external corporate and regulatory investigations into bribery, corruption, fraud and other allegations of criminal activity
• Expanding intensive work for flagship IT clients in regulatory investigative matters, including Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Airbnb etc.
• Representing clients before statutory and non-statutory investigations and inquiries, including Administrative Sanctions Procedures, Tribunals of Inquiry and Commissions of Investigation
• Advising on the powers, duties and jurisdiction of investigators/ inquiries and the rights and duties of witnesses

Enforcement Activity

• Representing clients in domestic and international enforcement actions, negotiating and collaborating with advisors and regulators to optimise client results
• Designing corporate defence strategies including proactive and pre-emptive measures
• Managing internal and external stakeholders when faced with regulatory scrutiny

Regulatory Advice and Compliance

• Sharing market knowledge and standards to promote industry best practice and advising on regulatory changes
• Strategizing internal reforms and policy amendments to ensure and optimise regulatory compliance
• Advising on compliance programmes and audits
• Pre-empting reputational and franchise risk domestically and internationally following regulatory action

• Acting for Meta in on-going regulatory proceedings commenced by the Irish Data Protection Commissioner before the Irish courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union
• Acting for the International Transport Workers’ Federation in proceedings against the Irish State challenging on-going abuses and alleged trafficking of non-EEA workers

• Acting on behalf of the Central Bank of Ireland in a novel High Court application to confirm adverse findings and sanctions imposed for insider dealing, it being the first application of its type under Market Abuse legislation.
• Defending BNP Paribas Irish and Polish divisions relating to proceedings arising from cyber impersonation frauds perpetrated on customers by unknown actors.
• Representing several clients on investments made by them on foot of fraudulent representations and the misappropriation of funds culminating in their recovering such investments in their entirety.
• Acting in a number of internal investigations relating to serious allegations of corruption and criminal practice made by former employees.
• Proceeding on foot of a Norwich Pharmacal Order and information gained following an intensive investigation by specialist investigators to identify an individual involved in malicious communications with key customers.
• We have acted before several Commissions of Investigation & Inquiries, successfully securing favourable outcomes for a broad range of clients from individuals to state organisations.
