Sixth Street to become majority shareholder of Monument Re Advising investment vehicles managed or advised by Sixth Street

News Financial Services 01 Jul 2026

We advised investment vehicles managed or advised by Sixth Street in their acquisition of a majority stake in Monument Re, a pan-European insurance consolidator.

We acted as Irish counsel to Sixth Street, working alongside Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP on the cross-border transaction.

Monument Re is a life insurance and reinsurance company focused on the acquisition and management of in-force life insurance portfolios across Europe. Sixth Street is a strategic partner to leading insurers, advising on more than $125 billion of insurance company assets and making direct investments through its global platform.

Commenting on the transaction, Liam Flynn, Partner and Co-Head of Financial Regulation at Mason Hayes & Curran, said:

The deal required close coordination with Cleary Gottlieb and Debevoise, and our experience advising on complex corporate and financial regulation matters in Ireland helped deliver practical, focused support for the client throughout the process. We are proud to have supported Sixth Street on a transaction of this scale and strategic importance.

The advisory team was led by Liam Flynn; Anne Harkin, Partner, Corporate and Seán van Haaster, Senior Associate, Financial Regulation.
