We hosted a webinar in association with IPPN entitled Essential Policies for Primary Schools - Have You Got Your Ducks In A Row? on Wednesday 2 March. Few people ever read the finer details of their insurance policy until either the pipes burst or they are involved in a road traffic accident. It is only when a parent, student or staff member is unhappy with a school decision, or there is an injury, that school policies are the subject of scrutiny.

During this webinar, we discussed the outcomes of some recent case law, and scenarios that demonstrate why having robust policies in place is so crucial. These policies should include Admission, Codes of Behaviour (to include “Behaviours of Concern” ), Data Protection, and Health & Safety. Our speakers outlined the importance of these inclusions in the event of challenge or scrutiny.

Speakers:

Jack Durkin, Supports & Services Manager, IPPN

Catherine Kelly, Senior Associate, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP

Áine Haberlin, Associate, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP

David Ruddy BL, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP

This webinar will be chaired by Ian O’Herlihy, Partner & Head of Education Law, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP.
