We hosted our Selling Online - Consumer Protection Overhaul webinar on Tuesday 26 May.

The EU’s New Deal for Consumers will dramatically increase penalties for breaches of consumer protection laws, with GDPR-level fines and enhanced enforcement. There are also changes for operators of platforms, search engines, providers of “free” digital content and to the rules on unfair contract terms and misleading commercial practices.

During this webinar, we outlined how you can prepare for the challenging enforcement regime by assessing the following:

  • Enforcement and Modernisation of Consumer Protection Rules Directive;
  • The Platform Regulations
  • The Digital Content Directive, and
  • The Cooperation between Consumer Protection Authorities

As traffic for online retailers has increased at a huge rate in recent months, it’s important that all businesses selling online are up to speed on the new EU regulations that have been put in place to protect consumers.
