Our Social Agenda

Commitees

Diversity Committee

The firm’s Diversity Committee consisting of 12 staff members from different areas across the firm was set up in 2017. The group, currently chaired by partner Gerard Kelly, has been established to work specifically on promoting diversity, developing targeted diversity initiatives and focusing on themes such as inclusion and social mobility.

The goals of the firm as implemented through the Diversity Committee are to acknowledge and respect diversity and inclusion within the firm, to welcome and respect individual views and experiences for the benefit of colleagues and clients and to recognise and formalise our existing culture of openness and inclusivity.

We recently won the 'Diversity & Inclusion - Multinational Company' category at the Chambers Ireland Sustainable Business Impact Awards and were named by Accenture as winner of its first-ever 2021 Outside Counsel Diversity Awards, alongside three other international law firms. The award honoured Accenture’s legal service providers for their exceptional efforts in 2020 to create a culture of equality in their workplaces and communities.

Green Committee

Mason Hayes & Curran was a finalist in the Green Awards 2022, for the firm’s Green Month initiative. We were proud to be awarded The Green Professional Services Award in 2020, recognising our exceptional commitment to developing and maintaining sustainable business practices which is driven by our Green Committee.

MHC Rise

Our Corporate Social Responsibility Programme is driven by the CSR Committee which includes representatives from across the firm. As we prosper, we have a responsibility to contribute to our society and community not just by being good employers and adopting responsible business practices, but also by making contributions from our resources. We feel that we can invest in our society and communities through responsible business practices and contributions of our resources. We invest about 1% of our turnover in CSR.

We do this through our social responsibility programme, known as MHC RISE – Responsible Investment in Social Engagement. The programme focuses on the following:

  • Charitable giving with a focus on education, particularly for the disadvantaged
  • Free legal services for societal good
  • Support of the visual arts
  • Environmental responsibility

Sports & Social Committee

Our Sports & Social Committee organises and supports a range of events, activities and initiatives throughout the year, for all staff members to enjoy. While we work hard, we take the time to connect with our colleagues and enjoy the social aspects of working in a large firm.

Environment

We are committed to reducing energy consumption, minimising waste, reducing water consumption, encouraging greener modes of transport, and generally encouraging a culture of sustainability and an awareness of our impact on the environment.
