William Carmody


William is the Head of our Financial Services Department. He represents financial institutions and corporate borrowers on a range of secured and unsecured lending transactions, including project finance, leveraged M&A, financing of commercial real estate investments and development, corporate working capital debt requirements and Irish law issues in multi-jurisdictional finance transactions. Will provides strategic advice in relation to complex debt restructurings and our clients’ analysis of finance and investment decisions.

Will’s project finance practice has a particular emphasis on the financing of renewable energy projects and he has advised project sponsors, bank funders and investors on the development of wind, solar and biomass electricity generation projects. He has also advised on the financing of infrastructure investment and development in the transport, health, telecommunications, education and accommodation sectors.

His clients include domestic and international banks and debt funds, mezzanine lenders, corporate borrowers, private equity and institutional investors and Government.

Representative Matters

  • Will advised a syndicate of banks comprising Allied Irish Banks, Santander, Royal Bank of Canada, BNP Paribas and Commerzbank on the provision of a €250 million revolving credit facility to Greencoat plc, the renewable energy infrastructure publicly listed investment fund.
  • Will advised Allied Irish Banks on the financing of iCare Housing’s mortgage to rent scheme, part of Ireland’s social housing and impaired mortgage resolution initiatives.
  • Will advised Nordeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale on the project financing of Knockalough and Magheramore wind farms, totalling debt facilities of €137 million and electricity generation capacity of 75MW between them.
