• Provided training to the board members of a national statutory body on corporate governance, its governing legislation, statutory duties and powers and possible legislative reforms so that the Board members gained an understanding of the legal implications of their role.

• Advised the Health Insurance Authority on the operation of its governing legislation, its statutory powers and statutory interpretation.

• Advised the Health Service Executive on its statutory powers, compliance with legislation, administrative law and judicial review. Represented the Health Service Executive in judicial review actions.

• Advised an energy company on a possible judicial review action against a Regulator’s decisions. Advised on the grounds for judicial review, legal tests, timelines, the process and strategic considerations.

• Advised hospitals, regulators and public bodies on freedom of information requests, internal reviews and appeals to the Information Commissioner.

• Established the in-house Legal Section for the Central Statistics Office. Acted as in-house solicitor providing legal advice to the Central Statistics Office, the management board and the Director General on a wide range of legal issues relevant to a statutory body including enforcement, employment law, public and administrative law, statutory powers, statutory interpretation, EU law, procurement and contracts, GDPR and data protection, civil litigation and legislative drafting.

• Advised a university on the Official Languages Acts and compliance with the legislation. Provided advice on communications with An Coimisinéir Teanga and on the Higher Education Act.
