New Competition and Antitrust Partners

Over the last number of years, we have seen a significant increase in competition and merger control work in Ireland, from both domestic and international clients. To address this market demand, Liam Heylin and Laura Durning have been promoted to partners in our Competition & Antitrust team.

Laura and Liam advise on all aspects of Irish and EU competition law, including complex merger control before the Irish CCPC and the European Commission, along with antitrust investigations into alleged cartels and abuse of dominance. Laura trained in the firm and has gained significant insight into the Irish and international market through her work on a number of high-profile domestic and pan-European cases. Liam has substantial international experience due to his prior roles in leading law firms, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Brussels and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in London.

Commenting on the promotions, Tara Kelly, Head of our Competition & Antitrust team said “the promotions of Liam and Laura further bolster our market leading team in Ireland and their excellent mix of experience and consistent dedication to excellence, will allow us to continue to enhance our service to clients.”

Laura added, “Starting as an intern in MHC, it is very gratifying to have grown with the firm over the last 10 years; I’m delighted to join the partnership and look forward to further delivering results for our clients over the coming years.

Liam said, “I am honoured to join the MHC partnership and I am very much looking forward to working with existing and future clients across a multitude of industries and to further expanding our reach in the coming years.
