Our MHC Moments series shines a spotlight on the contributions our people make to our community and the experiences that make us who we are.

Trainee Lorena de Carvalho talks to us about her involvement with the Simon Community Annual Run:

"In October I ran in the Simon Community 40th annual Run and was delighted to raise €500, which was doubled with MHC's Matched Funding.

Giving back to society is something I take great pleasure in. Running is one of the primary means by which I raise money, in the past I raised for Pieta, the Calcutta Run and for the preservation of wild animals. However, I'm always trying to find new ways to support charities, as of recently I starting baking birthday cakes for refugee children.

Given the current housing crisis, I wanted to make a difference to those most vulnerable in society and the Simon Community do wonderful work. By running I get the benefit of looking after my health with the added bonus of helping others in need. Having discovered this charity run, I'm certain that it will become an annual event for me. I can only hope to get more MHC involved!

I would like to thank everyone in MHC who kindly donated to this fundraiser!"
