For the next MHC Intern Life in our new series, we talked to Lucy Shu Yao Lu. Lucy is going into her final year of Law and French Trinity College Dublin and is currently an intern. We asked her to describe a typical day for her during her first week as an intern here.

I am just reaching the end of my first week of my internship here at Mason Hayes & Curran and I am really enjoying it so far! My week has been packed with great talks and workshops, and I have been getting a lot of practical experience working in the Real Estate team.

A typical day in my life as an intern this week usually consists of attending induction activities. So far, I have received IT systems training, gotten an overview of the firm’s HR policies and procedures, and received anti-money laundering training. Along with attending these talks, I also do practical work for my team. My tasks this week have involved: carrying out research and applying this research to specific client properties, analysing an issue in a client’s company constitution, and locating documents for registration to the Land Registry.

An integral part of my day-to-day life here at Mason Hayes & Curran is all the guidance and support I receive from my partner mentors and my trainee buddy. They are so helpful and are happy to discuss my research and answer any and all questions I may have.

I am also working on a group presentation with the 2 other interns who are currently working in the firm. I am really enjoying working on the project and am looking forward to presenting it to the HR and Marketing Team, and partners.

A typical day in Mason Hayes & Curran is busy but balanced – looking forward to my remaining time here!
