About Katie
Katie is an Of Counsel in our Health and Prosecutions department. She practices across a range of areas including mental health, healthcare law and childcare law.
Katie specialises in the area of capacity law and is a trusted advisor in the areas of mental health law, Assisted Decision-Making and the High Court’s Inherent Jurisdiction.
She acts on behalf of and provides comprehensive advises to the Health Service Executive (HSE) mental health, disability and primary care teams and hospitals in a large volume of cases on sensitive matters in the above areas and has also advised on multiple High Court domestic and cross-jurisdictional cases for both Tusla and the HSE in various complex and sensitive matters in respect of vulnerable persons.
Katie also acts on behalf of the HSE in seeking urgent interim High Court Orders in respect of anorexia patients requiring urgent Naso-Gastric feeding and treatment. These cases can also involve advice regarding end-of-life care.
She was an associate solicitor on the team since 2018, a Senior Associate since April 2023 and Of Counsel since 2026.
