Declan is the Managing Partner of Mason Hayes & Curran. His personal practice focuses on commercial litigation and insolvency. Declan's experience includes the management of disputes and investigations with significant reputational consequences for the protagonists. He has acted in many high-value contractual and tortious disputes, commonly with an international component.
He advises regularly regarding complex warranty claims flowing from corporate transactions, claims against institutional investment advisors, claims in the financial services sector, shareholder disputes and agency matters.
Declan has also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in relation to negligence claims involving professionals such as insurance brokers, accountants, solicitors and investment advisers. He has also acted in property related disputes, fraud-related litigation and in a number of disputes involving the application of EU regulations and directives in Ireland. He has represented Tribunals of Inquiry established by the State in proceedings taken against the Tribunals by persons affected by their actions.
Declan also represents clients, most commonly financial institutions, in complex corporate insolvency matters. These include examinerships, receiverships, schemes of arrangement and liquidations. Allied to this practice, he advises boards and individual officers regarding their responsibilities
