Position type: Permanent
We have one of the largest dedicated Commercial Contracts teams in Ireland – that means a depth of resources, and breadth of expertise, to negotiate the best terms for our clients.
As part of our work, our Commercial Contracts team advises public and private sector bodies on all aspects of public procurement law.
We are looking for an experienced candidate to join our team who has a keen interest in public procurement law and in advising on compliance with Irish and EU public procurement regulations.
Uniquely in MHC, our public procurement team sits within our Commercial Contracts team. This is different to the structure of many Irish law firms where procurement is co-located with construction or EU/regulatory law specialists. This means that the same team advises not only on the tricky regulatory and compliance issues arising from public procurement law but are also at the coalface of drafting and negotiating some of the largest and high profile commercial and public/private contracts in the state. We believe that this fit gives the best end to end service to our clients and provides a challenging and varied career brief for our lawyers. This role may, therefore, suit an individual who would like to expand their skillset and work on both ends of public procurement – regulatory compliance and contracting – or who is already working in these fields and would like to take their career to the next level.
While experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts is a nice to have, we will also consider candidates from a competition/EU regulatory/construction or contentious procurement background who would like to work with our first class Commercial Contracts team and are open to expanding their skillset.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious candidate to work in a respected and growing firm with an enviable client basis and an identifiable career path. This role requires a solicitor who will work both on their own initiative and in a cohesive market-leading team with Partners, Senior Associates and Associates. The successful candidate will be qualified as a solicitor or barrister in Ireland or England and Wales and will have a minimum of 3 to 5+ years relevant PQE (more senior candidates also considered), preferably within a large or medium law firm or large in-house practice.
