Stephen Gillick


Stephen is a Partner in our Employment Law and Benefits team, specialising in Pensions Law. He has extensive experience in advising trustees, sponsoring employers and pension providers on a range of issues, including pension scheme establishment and restructuring; pension scheme funding and exercises to reduce scheme liabilities.

Stephen is experienced in drafting and updating pension scheme documentation and advising on pension scheme mergers and reorganisations. He regularly advises on the pension aspects of corporate acquisitions and disposals.

Stephen also provides guidance to trustees and sponsoring employers on compliance and interpretation of pensions legislation and scheme rules.

Representative Matters

  • Advising the trustees of a large defined benefit pension scheme on the implementation of an enhanced transfer value exercise for the scheme.
  • Updating and revising the defined contribution pension scheme operated by a large financial institution.
  • Advising a large multinational employer on the actions required to close its defined benefit pension schemes to the future accrual of benefits and assisting in the establishment of replacement pension schemes.
