Rachel Kavanagh


Rachel is Head of our Insurance & Risk team. She specialises in insurance and claims litigation. Rachel advises Irish and international insurance companies in relation to all aspects of insurance litigation, in particular, in relation to personal injury claims, property damage claims, product liability, defamation and coverage disputes.

Rachel also advises self-insured companies in relation to risk management, health and safety practices, claims handling and fraud detection.

Before joining the firm in 2011, Rachel worked for 12 years in a Dublin law firm which specialised in insurance defence litigation. During that time, she developed key relationships within the insurance sector and established a strong reputation as a leading industry advisor.

Representative Matters

  • Acting for an international transport infrastructure company in a multi-million euro personal injury claim including advising in relation to multi-party Mediation.
  • Advising an international insurer on coverage issues relating to a catastrophic injury claim including potential Arbitration.
  • Acting for major Irish shopping centres, retail parks and international retailers in relation to employer’s liability, public liability and defamation claims and associated third party contractual issues.
