Finn Kelly joins as Partner and Susan Lynch is promoted to Of Counsel in the firm's tax practice, while Tara Nestor joins as Of Counsel in Debt Capital Markets.
The appointments reflect growing demand for specialist advice as businesses and financial institutions deal with increasing complexity around investment, tax and disclosure requirements across international markets.
Managing Partner Will Carmody said:
Clients want advisers with deep industry sector insight; people who understand the commercial pressures which their clients face, not just the legal framework. Increasingly, that means understanding how tax and regulation shape financing decisions from the outset.
Finn, Susan and Tara each advise in areas where those issues overlap, and their appointments reflect the growing needs of our clients.”
New Tax partner Finn Kelly will advise clients on all aspects of Irish tax, with a primary focus on the financial services sector. He specialises in advising asset managers, investment funds, financial institutions and aircraft leasing companies on the tax aspects of their business operations in Ireland. This includes establishing and operating Irish investment platforms and the tax treatment of financing transactions.

Kevin Mangan, Co-Head of Tax, welcomed his appointment saying:
Finn brings significant expertise in advising clients on the tax aspects of a wide range of transactions and structures including in private credit transactions, CLOs, structured bond issuances and regulated and unregulated investment funds transactions.
He combines technical tax expertise with a deep understanding of the practical and commercial issues impacting clients in the financial services sector.”
Finn said:
It is an exciting time to join the firm and to be part of the growth in the Tax team. This expansion reflects the client-driven demand for specialist tax advice following the introduction of a number of new tax rules over the past decade. Ireland and the EU are both considering potential changes to existing tax rules in order to reduce complexity for taxpayers and safeguard business competitiveness.
We expect development in these proposals over the coming months, which will coincide with Ireland’s upcoming EU Council presidency. I'm looking forward to helping clients navigate any changes resulting from these proposed reforms and the potential impact on their business activities.”
Susan Lynch has been promoted to Of Counsel in the firm's Tax team, bringing more than 30 years’ experience across Big 4 tax advisory and an in-house role giving her a unique perspective on diverse client requirements.
She works with Irish and international businesses on a wide range of tax issues, from complex cross-border tax structuring to employee share incentive schemes. She also helps clients with tax risk management and disputes involving tax authorities.
Niamh Caffrey, Co-Head of Tax, said:
Susan is a highly experienced tax adviser. Her background in both accounting and law firm environments, and an in-house role, gives her a perspective that is both distinctive and highly relevant to businesses.
Her promotion recognises her strong technical expertise and the valued insights and guidance she provides to her clients.”
Susan commented:
Tax risk has moved firmly up the boardroom agenda. Clients want clear advice early, before issues become disputes. I look forward to continuing to apply my broad experience to help our clients navigate complex domestic and international tax issues and evolving tax policy.”
The firm’s Tax team has experienced sustained significant growth in recent years driven by increasingly complex domestic and cross-border transactions and a higher incidence of tax disputes, driven in no small part by increasing complexity in tax law. Finn’s appointment, together with Susan’s promotion, further strengthens the team and will help drive its continued growth.
Tara Nestor appointment

Tara Nestor joins the firm's Financial Services team as Of Counsel. She advises banks and corporates on debt issuance and listed securities, including bond programmes, public and private securities offerings and disclosure requirements.
Prior to her appointment, Tara worked for an international law firm across Luxembourg, London and Dublin.
Neil Campbell, Partner and Head of Financial Services, said:
Tara has advised on cross-border financing transactions across major European markets and understands the regulatory pressures facing international clients. That experience is directly relevant to the work we do for banks and corporates raising finance through Ireland."
Commenting on her appointment, Tara said:
Ireland continues to be a key market for international debt issuance and securities listings. Disclosure requirements and the regulatory framework for listed debt continue to evolve across Europe, and clients are seeking clear, practical guidance as those changes take effect. There is a lot of interesting work ahead.”
The appointments are the first in a series of promotions across the firm.
