Paul is a partner in the Employment Law & Benefits team and practices in the area of education law and employment law in the private and public sectors. His practice includes advising educational institutions at all levels on the full range of employment and education law issues they face. He also advises public sector bodies on employment and industrial relations issues, particularly in the health sector. He acts as an advisor to clients on complex non-contentious workplace issues and as an experienced litigator before all employment related fora.
Paul has a wide range of experience, including time spent as a military lawyer in the Legal Service of the Irish Defence Forces, practicing as an employment lawyer for several years in Toronto, Canada, and advising on employment and industrial relations matters for members of Ireland’s largest business representative body. He has lectured on education and employment related topics such as data protection and protected disclosures including at Legal Island seminars.

- Assists clients with drafting employment contracts, HR policies and procedures, and dealing with issues such as fixed term employment, contracts of indefinite duration, redundancies and workplace bullying and harassment complaints.
- Advises on the proper conduct of internal investigations and disciplinary processes, including those involving teachers and principals in the education sector, as well as management of grievance procedures and responding to data access requests.
- Advises and represents clients in relation to contentious matters before the Workplace Relations Commission, the Labour Court, the Circuit Court and the High Court, including all aspects of written and oral advocacy and efficient management of the litigation.
