John joined our New York Office in July 2013 after more than a dozen years as a litigation and regulatory attorney at global law firms White & Case and Linklaters, and more recently, global investment bank, UBS AG.
John’s role is to support our Irish attorneys in serving their existing US client base. He provides an immediately available US based presence and point of contact for our US clients. He maintains the closest contact with staff members of Irish government agencies with presence in the US, such as IDA Ireland.
John received his BA in History from Mercyhurst University in 1997 and his law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2002. He worked at White & Case from 2002 to 2006, at Linklaters from 2006 to 2010, and in-house at UBS Investment Bank from 2010 to 2013. He brings significant litigation and regulatory experience to MHC, having recently helped lead UBS’s internal investigation unit, and leading several major cross-border investigation and regulatory inquiries during his career. He has also handled a variety of securities and other commercial litigations.
In addition to his legal work, John has been an active and leading member of the Irish and Irish-American community in the US. In the mid-2000s, he helped found Irish Network-NYC, and later Irish-Network USA, an organization he currently Co-Chairs and which has more than a dozen chapters around the US. John is also the current President of the Irish American Bar Association of New York. In 2010, along with Caroline Kennedy, John received a Proclamation from the City of New York in recognition for his service to New York's Irish community. John has been listed on Irish America’s top “Legal 100” list of attorneys since 2009.
