John Farrell


John is a Partner on the firm’s Commercial team and practices as part of the Technology, Media & Telecoms and Privacy & Data Security teams.

He advises domestic and multinational companies, including high potential early stage companies, on large scale commercial contracts and IT arrangements, privacy and data protection law, technology and e-commerce law, intellectual property and consumer protection. John specialises in advising on large scale commercial arrangements, in particular on multi-party arrangements involving a variety of contractual structures. John also advises on a wide variety of privacy issues, including international data transfers, vendor management and internal compliance programmes. 

John is a registered Irish and European Union trade mark and design agent and acts as a lecturer, tutor and examiner for the Law Society of Irelands’ professional practice and diploma courses in the area of technology, intellectual property, privacy and commercial contracts. John also has a deep understanding and expertise of emerging technologies and their interaction with existing legal principles, including Blockchain and distributed ledger technology, Cryptocurrencies, AI, Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Goods, 3D Printing, Driverless Cars and Virtual and Augmented Reality.
