Royal Irish Academy Discourse Series with Nobel Prize Winner Professor William Campbell
27 November 2017
We are delighted to sponsor the third in a series of talks hosted by the Royal Irish Academy on Dawson Street, Dublin 2. The Royal Irish Academy is Ireland’s premier learned body. Founded in 1785, the Academy promotes, sustains and helps communicate the benefits of research. It is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest Academic honour in Ireland.
At each discourse, an expert will present on a topic relevant to their field of interest. The third discourse will take place on Wednesday 29 November with guest speaker Professor Professor William C. Campbell, a former Senior Director of Parasitology and Director for Assay Research and Development at the Merck Institute for Therapeutic Research, New Jersey. He and his team were responsible for the discovery and development of at least six pharmaceuticals, which have had a huge influence on human and animal health. In 2015, he was one of three scientists awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine.
