Mason Hayes & Curran Hosts LLM Students From Université de Paris II Panthéon-Assas

20 January 2017

On Monday 16 January, Jeanne Kelly, Partner in our Commercial team and Mark Adair, Senior Associate in our Technology team, hosted a lunchtime seminar at our Dublin offices for LLM students from Université de Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

Considered one of top law schools in France, Panthéon-Assas is a member of the Sorbonne University alliance and can trace its roots back to the 12th century. Each year, as part of the Information Technology and Intellectual Property Master of Laws programme, Panthéon-Assas students visit a European capital to learn about the intersection between the technology industry and legal market in that country.

Jeanne presented on the cutting-edge work Mason Hayes & Curran’s Technology and Commercial Contracts teams are engaged in with European businesses in the IT and intellectual property sectors. She also discussed the firm’s strong links with a number of companies and law firms in France. Mark focused on what is happening in the Irish and EU technology law markets, what is likely to happen next and how the firm assists and supports businesses doing business in or through Ireland to compete effectively while managing legal risks.

The event concluded with a question and answer session where the speakers covered a range of topics, including the implementation of the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the potential implications of Brexit for businesses located in Ireland and France, and the rise of regulatory and compliance technology (RegTech).
