We are delighted to announce four new leaders for our Healthcare & Medical Law, International Asset Finance, Insurance & Risk and Intellectual Property teams.
Kevin Power, a former practising medical doctor, is our new Head of Healthcare & Medical Law. He takes over from John Gleeson, who developed and led the practice over the last two decades. Kevin advises a number of Ireland’s major obstetric, general and psychiatric hospitals in the public and private sectors as well as a number of leading Irish and multinational pharmaceutical, medical device and food companies. He will lead an eight-lawyer team which advises on the largest and most complex clinical negligence and healthcare product liability claims, healthcare & pharmaceutical regulation, and risk management.
Rachel Kavanagh is the new Head of our Insurance & Risk team, taking over from Lorcan Buckley. Rachel specialises in insurance and claims litigation. She advises Irish and international insurance companies in relation to all aspects of insurance litigation, particularly in relation to personal injury claims, property damage claims, product liability, defamation and coverage disputes. She also advises self-insured companies in relation to risk management, health and safety practices, claims handling and fraud detection.
Christine O’Donovan will lead our new International Asset Finance team. Her award-winning practice focuses on international transactions in the areas of aircraft financing, corporate lending, project and acquisition finance, asset financing and cross-border aircraft leasing. She advises domestic and international corporate clients, domestic and international credit institutions and aircraft manufacturers, lessors and airlines. As well as working with leading local and international lessors and financiers, her team also work closely with credit agencies and government bodies.
Gerard Kelly is the firm’s new Head of Intellectual Property, taking over from Richard Woulfe. Gerard advises clients on IP matters and disputes, including substantial patent, passing off, trade mark, copyright and design litigation. He has particular experience in non-contentious IP matters such as advising on protection and licensing strategies for IP rights and acts for clients in managing their IP portfolios from filing, exploitation to enforcement. Gerard has also been involved in many of the most high profile IP cases in recent years in the Commercial Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
