Mason Hayes & Curran advises HIQA
09 October 2013
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has today published a report on its statutory investigation into the safety, quality and standards of services provided by the Health Service Executive and University Hospital Galway (UHG) to patients at risk of clinical deterioration, including pregnant women.
This statutory investigation followed in the wake of the tragic death last year of Savita Halappanavar, and a consideration of the particular care and treatment provided to her at UHG at that time.
The report, an executive summary, and a list of the report’s local and national recommendations, are available on the HIQA website.
We advised HIQA at various stages of this investigation, and our team was led by Public Law partner, Niall Michel.
