In the Frame: Art at Mason Hayes & Curran - James Roddy

11 February 2020

We are fortunate to have one of the most important corporate art collections of Irish and International contemporary art in Dublin. Included in the collection is 'Barker Dam Joshua Tree' by Rowena Dring.

James Roddy, an Associate in our Public, Regulatory & Investigations team has chosen this piece as his favourite from our collection and he explains why:

"I was drawn to this painting as nature has always appealed to me.  I am a member of the Green Committee here at MHC and protecting the environment is important so future generations get to enjoy the same beautiful scenery you see in this painting.

The ruggedness of the landscape and bold colours used really capture your attention, making you feel like you're in the portrait.  The artist, Rowena Dring, created this stitched painting following a trip to the desert in Arizona and California and she has really captured the essence of the barren desert while showing the sparse vegetation which can survive."

February is Green Month in Mason Hayes & Curran and we have a number of initiatives planned to educate staff on eco-friendly tips which can be adopted as part of their everyday life.
