The Companies Act and The Companies (Accounting) Bill 2016 Breakfast Briefing in Association with TBA - Publications
We hosted a special breakfast briefing on The Companies Act 2014 and the new Companies Bill in association with Trinity Business Alumni (TBA) on Wednesday 21 September 2016 at our offices on Barrow Street, Dublin 4.
The Companies Act 2014 consolidated and reformed Irish company law, gathering together all Irish laws relating to the formation, management, share capital, insolvency and investigation of companies. The Act came into effect on 1 June 2015 and at this briefing we examined the first year of its operation and the ways in which it has changed how companies conduct their business.
We looked at the long-awaited Companies (Accounting) Bill, which was published on 5 August 2016 and is designed to address the accounting obligations of micro-companies, resource companies and certain unlimited companies.
Our speakers reviewed a number of key questions:
• What improvements has the Act brought about?
• What issues have arisen in practice?
• What changes are coming in the Bill?
