In-House Counsel Masterclass: Intellectual Property and Technology Law
Event Date: 25 April 2017
We will host our third In-House Counsel Masterclass of 2017 on Tuesday 25 April in our offices on Barrow Street, Dublin 4 looking at topical Intellectual Property and Technology law issues.
Our speakers will focus on the implications of Brexit on IP protection. Companies who currently rely on EU trademarks or designs to do business in the UK could lose protection in that market when the UK finally exits the EU, so businesses need to consider now how they will prepare for such a situation. We will also look at the case of Data Protection Commissioner v Facebook Ireland and Schrems, in which the Irish DPC is challenging the Standard Contractual Clauses established by decisions of the European Commission as a valid basis for the export of data outside the EU. This case could potentially have an enormously damaging impact on global trade.

The event will be chaired by Richard Woulfe and include a short audience Q&A.
