Public Benefit

Public awareness of what public benefit entities own will increase dramatically when the Regulator publishes financial details during 2017.  Many clients in the voluntary sector are exploring new ways to satisfy their property requirements and make best use of their property assets, so we see increased asset disposals, facility sharing and licensing of space. Current cases include rights of way, boundary issues, right to light and trespass.

There are more joint ventures between the State and voluntary organisations. State bodies are becoming more innovative in not only providing for their premises needs but also producing solutions in partnership with the private sector.  As Ireland continues its economic recovery, the public sector is playing a key role in improving infrastructure, becoming more efficient in office usage and mapping out how we will solve the housing crisis. Real estate is an important element in each of these.

  • One client through clever property structuring is achieving its objectives but now with a public body as long term tenant.
  • A client bank is funding a major social housing body which also has assistance from Department of Housing initiatives.
