We are looking to hire a library assistant to work with our friendly and motivated library team on a full-time basis.

Mason Hayes & Curran LLP is a leading Irish law firm based in Dublin with offices in San Francisco, New York and London. We are a business law firm with extensive knowledge and experience in the following sectors: Technology, Energy, Financial Services, Built Environment and Healthcare & Life Sciences.

The successful candidate will work on a number of tasks, including current awareness, cataloguing & circulation, inter-library loans, enquiries and tracking book orders. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their library skills and get involved in all aspects of the library service.

Responsibilities include

  • current awareness updates – news, Journals tables of contents, media alerts
  • cataloguing & circulation - overdue books, reporting, updating catalogue records
  • inter-library loans
  • responding to information requests
  • starters and leavers library processes
  • looseleaf publications
  • participation in library projects and library services
  • general administrative assistance, including preparation of metrics reports, archiving and work on special collections
  • other duties as requested by the Head of Library & Information Services

Candidate requirements

  • minimum 1 year of experience working in a library environment
  • experience of working in a legal library is an asset
  • strong IT skills including MS Office; experience of automated library management systems (LMS) would be desirable
  • good organisational skills and demonstrable ability to plan and prioritise
  • proven attention to detail and accuracy
  • excellent all round teamwork and communication skills, both oral and written; able to interact confidently with clients of all levels
