Tanya is a Partner in the Commercial Litigation Department specialising in commercial, planning and property related litigation.  In addition to dealing with general commercial litigation cases including a variety of contractual disputes and warranty claims, Tanya’s cases also include disputes arising out of the sale and purchase of land for development purposes, planning matters, commercial landlord and tenant disputes and specific performance actions, principally on the part of developers and vendors of various commercial premises. Tanya also acts in a number of insurance related matters and has acted on behalf of Insurers and Reinsurers in relation to a variety of matters including professional indemnity claims and coverage disputes.

Tanya also works in the area of public and administrative law advising public and regulatory bodies in relation to various matters. Tanya's work in this area principally involves dealing with judicial review proceedings taken against public and regulatory bodies and Tanya has been involved in advising, for example, the Commission for Energy Regulation and the Information Commissioner. In particular, Tanya is involved in the ongoing provision of advice to the Legal Aid Board in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Litigation Experience

• Acting for international recording artist in the defence of Commercial Court proceedings concerning a contractual dispute;
• Acting for a developer in the prosecution of Commercial Court proceedings against large retailer arising from a breach of contract concerning the development of a shopping centre;
• Acting for an Irish commercial helicopter operator in Commercial Court proceedings seeking to establish an easement of avigation, seeking such recognition for the first time in Irish law;
• Acting for lead member of banking syndicate in a multi-million Euro inter bank dispute arising out of the funding of a significant property development in Dublin;
• Acting for UK re-insurer in Commercial Court proceedings concerning a €26million Euro reinsurance dispute with a captive insurer of a multi-national corporation;
• Acting for large developer in a case against the Irish government concerning the constitutionality of significant aspects of the Irish planning legislation;
• Acting for a number of developers in the context of numerous specific performance proceedings;
• Acting for the Legal Aid Board in a case involving both constitutional rights and rights under the European Convention on Human Rights to include the right of access to the courts;
• Acting for the Legal Aid Board in defence of proceedings before the High Court and the Supreme Court alleging negligence and breach of duty;
• Acting for the Health and Safety Authority in the defence of two linked sets of judicial review proceedings brought before the Commercial Court.
