• In November 2008, Tony was appointed by the Irish Government to form part of an expert group to examine and update Irish Consumer Law.
  

Tony is a Partner in Mason Hayes & Curran’s Commercial Department.  His main areas of specialism are business agreements, telecommunications and technology law, competition and antitrust, public procurement, European law, intellectual property and regulated industries. Tony advises Irish and international clients in Irish and European e-commerce regulations, website and portal design agreements, internet agreements, consumer protection issues, encryption and security, and data protection.

Tony has considerable knowledge and experience in the area of development, design and implementation of processes, systems and electronic procedures. Tony acts for a wide range of public sector, institutional and commercial clients and has been involved in many high profile transactions in the telecommunications and technology fields.

Speaking Engagements and Teaching:

• Tony is a regular lecturer, and his audiences include the ABA Section of International Law and Practice, and the New York Bar Association on topics such as e-commerce, distribution of computer software, legal protection of databases, copyright and related rights and public procurement.
• Tony is the European board member for Ireland, and Irish contributor to Tolley's Communications Law. He is a co-author of Telecommunications Law in Ireland, International Telecommunications Law (Irish Chapter), Intellectual Property Laws of Europe (Irish chapter) edited by George Metaxas-Marahanghidis (Chancery Publications 1995), and the Irish chapter of Appointing Commercial Agents in Europe, edited by Alex Rooney (Wiley 1996). Tony is also a regular contributor to Irish technology journals and he is a member of the Irish Software Association.
