Jason is a partner in the Debt Recovery group. Together with head of Department Colman Curran and an experienced team including solicitors, senior legal executives and case workers, he acts for banking, business, state/semi-state and private clients, to collect unpaid debt.

Jason joined the firm over ten years ago and has worked in the Debt Recovery group since qualifying as a solicitor in 2004.
Jason and the Debt Recovery team handle all aspects of collection work from pre-legal recovery efforts, escalating to litigation against the Debtor and where necessary enforcement of judgments against Debtors. The team specialises in providing a fast, efficient recovery service to both domestic and international clients with volume business, regardless of the size of the debts. Like the other solicitors on the Debt Recovery team, he regularly appears before the High, Circuit and District Courts.

Jason has been appointed a receiver by way of equitable execution by the High and Circuit Courts on a number of occasions. He also has detailed experience of the Irish Bankruptcy process and has acted in number of high value bankruptcy petitions. Jason has developed particular expertise in the enforcement of security taken over property, by way of charge/mortgage. He has acted for quite a number of major Irish banks and financial institutions, in this regard.

Jason also advises extensively in relation to the enforceability of contracts, including loan, leasing and agency agreements. He has contributed to publications and written articles on the areas of credit and cash flow, judgment enforcement and trans-frontier litigation. He frequently provides tailored legal and credit management training to people working in the credit industry. Like many other MH & C lawyers, he teaches students in the Law Society of Ireland.

Representative Matters:

• obtaining judgment for a major Irish Bank in a defended multi-million Euro debt claim in the High Court;
• obtaining Garnishee Orders for the Motor Insurer's Bureau of Ireland (MIBI), over monies due to be paid by third parties to judgment debtors of the MIBI;
• enforcement of security taken by major Irish Banks over multiple investment residential and commercial property and in particular the taking of possession of such properties on behalf of the firm's client Banks;
• leading the pre-legal recovery team who acted in the collection of significant amounts of debt on behalf of the firm's Business to Consumer and Business to Business client base, particularly schools and property management businesses;
• enforcing a STG£1.5 million UK judgment in Ireland.
