Paul McDonald

Partner

Paul is currently a Partner in the Education and Healthcare Unit of Employment Law and Benefits Group. Paul has been involved in representing a number of clients before statutory inquiries over the last number of years. He has been instructed in a number of important cases considering the issue of fair procedures in the context of fact finding investigations. This has involved a number of applications to the High Court both by way of Judicial Review and under statute.

Paul advises many clients on both contentious and non contentious matters from the drafting of employment contracts to the procedures to be adopted in disciplinary investigations/hearings to the representation of clients before the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Labour Court, the Equality Tribunal and the Circuit or High Courts.

Representative Matters:

Paul advises a large number of educational clients on matters such as enrolment policies, Section 29 Appeals, equality issues, etc. He represents various Boards of Management in civil litigation being taken by former pupils and employees arising out of both historical and contemporaneous complaints.
Paul advises clients on their obligations under Data Protection legislation and assists clients in responding to access requests made pursuant to the Acts.
