This was Mason Hayes and Curran's first Masterclass for In-House Counsel for 2011, the topic for the briefing was “Employment Issues Demystified - Managing Employment Risks around the disciplinary process, equality issues and the issue of outsourcing”

The speakers’ topics were as follows:
Tom Mallon B.L. looked at lessons which can be learned by employers from recent court decisions and the manner in which employers apply disciplinary procedures where employees have conduct or competence issues.
Melanie Crowley, Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran, gave an overview of the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations, specifically in relation to outsourcing, second generation outsourcing and in sourcing.
Ronnie Neville, Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran, looked at some of the particular complexities of equality law, drawing on recent decisions to highlight the manner in which the law has been interpreted by the Equality Tribunal, the Labour Court and the Civil Courts.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session during which the speakers addressed a range of legal concerns arising across various organisations.
