MH & C Partner, appointed to Irish Consumer Law Review Group

Tony Burke, Partner and head of the commercial department at Mason Hayes & Curran has been appointed by the Irish Government to form part of an expert group to examine and update Irish Sales Law.

This group as established in light of the recent initiative from the European Commission to modernise and consolidate EU consumer law, and prompted by the publication in October of an EU Directive aimed at enhancing cross-border consumer rights.

The proposed directive brings together four existing EU directives dealing with contracts for the sale of goods and services from businesses to consumers and business-to-business, and the group will examine the legislation governing these contracts.
