Company Particulars on Websites

01 April 2007

With effect from 1 April 2007 new requirements for company particulars on websites will be introduced.

Robert McDonagh
The following details must be displayed on the websites of Irish-incorporated companies with limited liability in a prominent and easily accessible place:

  • the full name of the company
  • its legal form (company limited by shares, public limited company)
  • the place of registration (Ireland)
  • its registered number
  • the address of its registered office (this must be a physical location, not a post office box number)

There are three contingent requirements:

1)    If the company is exempt from the requirement to have "Limited" at the end of the name.

2)    If the company is in the course of being wound up.

3)    If reference is made to its share capital - it must be  paid up share capital, i.e. not authorised or nominal share capital.

According to Robert McDonagh from Mason Hayes & Curran, “These new requirements will ensure that there is now more transparency and consistency in the way that companies display their information which will ensure a higher degree of clarity for all web users.”
