Leading US expert, Dennis Shaugnessy, Executive Professor, Northeastern University will give the next Mason Hayes & Curran sponsored Masterclass at the Ryan Academy on Thursday 22 June at 6.30pm. The Ryan Academy is an initiative sponsored by the Ryan Family and Dublin City University.
The Masterclass series has included talks by top international business experts, including Professor Joe Lassiter (Harvard Business School), Professor Tom Esselman (Harvard) and Prof Liam Fahey (Babson).
This week’s talk, entitled ‘The Mouse that Roared: Innovation, Intrapreneurship and Acquisitions at Charles River Laboratories’ will cover a range of issues including platform acquisitions, intellectual property, US corporate governance principles and strategic entrepreneurship.

Professor Shaughnessy specialises in business law and ethics, intellectual property, business planning and strategic entrepreneurship, biotechnology management, and the creation and growth of technology-driven ventures. He is also a strategy consultant and legal advisor to early stage technology businesses, and serves as a director of both private and publicly held companies.
He is a former senior executive with Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. (NYSE), a Massachusetts-based company that provides enabling products and services to the global pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries.
Professor Shaughnessy’s talk will include a discussion of the acquisition of a privately-held Irish company, and a merger with a publicly-held Scottish company.
He will also discuss progress in relation to international manufacturing operations of life sciences manufacturing and tools companies such as Charles River.
