Fionán Breathnach, Head of the Investment Funds and Regulatory practice of Mason Hayes+Curran, recently spoke at an Industry Briefing Seminar hosted by the Irish Funds Industry Association in London. Attended by over 450 market participants on Friday 18 September 2009, the Seminar provided the London market with an update on regulatory and product developments in the Irish funds industry. Fionán was a panelist on the session dealing with Investment Fund Product Development, addressing fund products such as ETFs, UCITS Structured Products, UCITS Using Alternative Strategies and Debt/Bank Loan Funds.

2009 Release of Irish Takeover Legislation publication (17th February 2009)
February 2009 saw the release of partner Justin McKenna’s publication- Irish Takeover Legislation. The publication is a compendium of legislation regulating the takeovers of public companies in Ireland. It also provides commentary outlining the application and operation of the Irish Takeover Rules and identifies other legal issues relevant to takeovers in Ireland.
MH+C Book Launch, 5th edition of Murdoch’s Dictionary of Irish Law (12th February 2009)
On Thursday 12th February, Mason Hayes+Curran were delighted to host a launch for the fifth edition of Murdoch’s Dictionary of Irish Law at our offices. The launch marks the transition of authorship from Henry Murdoch to Dr Brian Hunt of Mason Hayes+Curran, who is responsible for this edition and will also be responsible for future editions.
Eircom to tell filesharers: "Three strikes you're out" (5th February 2009)
On 28 January 2009, following eight days in the High Court, leading Irish internet service provider (ISP) eircom reached a settlement with four major record companies (EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner), under which eircom will implement a “three strikes and you’re out” process against subscribers who upload or download files in breach of copyright.
