Six new partners announced (20th November 2006)
Leading business law firm, Mason Hayes+Curran, has announced the appointment of six partners, indicating its considerable growth in recent years. The promotions follow the firm's five-year expansion plan, which has seen staff grow to more than 200 employees and revenues reach €27 million.

European Commission consults on Distance Selling Directive (7th November 2006)
Directive 1997/7/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 1997 on the Protection of Consumers in respect of Distance Contracts (Distance Selling Directive) aims at ensuring that consumers, who buy goods or services via distance selling means (and, thus, without any face-to-face contact with the supplier), are in no worse a position than consumers purchasing with face-to-face contact.

Competition Authority blocks acquisition by Kingspan of Xtratherm (26th October 2006)
The Competition Authority announced on 26 October 2006 that it has decided to block the proposed acquisition of Leanort Group (Xtratherm) by Kingspan Group plc (Kingpsan) on the grounds that such a transaction would substantially lessen competition in the manufacture and provision of insulation materials in the State.
