Fostering Entrepreneurship: Where to From Here? (28th April 2009)
MH+C were delighted to hold the fifth in our series of seminars aimed at senior ranking public servants. The theme of this seminar focused on fostering entrepreneurship and gave Ireland’s senior ranking public servants an opportunity to hear first-hand the experience and proposals of leading entrepreneurs, academics and lobby groups.

Pictured above from left are: Asheesh Dewan, Jaipur, Emer Gilvarry, Managing Partner, Mason Hayes+Curran and Denis O'Brien, Entrepreneur and founder of Communicorp Group.
The line-up of guest speakers for the seminar included:
- Denis O'Brien, Entrepreneur and founder of Communicorp Group
- Asheesh Dewan, Entrepreneur and founder of Jaipur. Ethnic Entrepreneur of the Year 2008.
- Dr. Tom Cooney, Lecturer in Entrepreneurship, DIT.
- Patricia Callan, Director of Small Firms Association and Network Ireland Businesswoman of the Year 2007.
The first two speakers provided an insightful account of their journeys to success and the obstacles they encountered along the way. They also touched on the opportunities that presented themselves and how seizing such opportunities, has been fundamental to their reach and success.
The second two speakers focused more on the policies proposals and other initiatives that are available to encourage entrepreneurs to succeed today or the lack of such. They addressed how simple measures could be implemented or offered to encourage small to medium businesses to foster growth and increase productivity.
The theme which resonated amongst all speakers and chairperson, Emer Gilvarry was the need for positivity in this uncertain economic climate and how adopting an overall entrepreneurial attitude is what is needed to take Ireland forward to weather the current economic challenges.
