Fionán Breathnach to speak at Irish Funds Industry Association Seminars in USA (5th March 2009)
Fionán Breathnach, Partner and Head of Investment Funds at Mason Hayes+Curran has been invited to speak at briefing seminars being hosted by the Irish Funds Industry Association in New York and Boston in March 2009. Fionán will speak on the topic of UCITS, their wider range of investment strategies and the increasing distribution opportunities. This event will be attended by leading figures in the funds industry in the USA and will address the subject of Ireland as a Partner to the Global Investment Funds Industry.Ireland has, in the past 20 years, become a jurisdiction of choice for the domiciling and servicing of investment funds. Managers and Promoters are drawn to Ireland because of the existence of a highly competitive marketplace for service provision. Over 321 fund promoters have Irish domiciled funds as part of their distribution strategy, including many of the world's most significant players. The industry continues to deliver an evolving environment facilitating a full range of investment fund products while also enjoying a reputation as a centre of excellence in providing services to investment vehicles domiciled in other jurisdictions.
Fionán advises fund promoters on structuring, establishing and listing investment funds in Ireland and in other jurisdictions. He also advises fund administrators, custodians, investment managers and other related service providers on the establishment of operations in Ireland and in relation to their ongoing business. He also has a significant regulatory practice, advising a wide range of financial services operations on their obligations under Irish and EU financial services regulations.
Fionán is recommended as a Leader in his Field in the ‘Investment Funds’ and ‘Financial Services’ categories in leading peer reviewed legal directories including Chambers and Partners.
A regular contributor to financial journals, he speaks regularly at conferences and seminars on financial services regulations and lectures on the Law Society of Ireland’s Diploma in Finance Law.
