Transport of Goods
The transportation of goods is one of the world’s largest industries. It provides a critical service to all other industries, small businesses and to consumers. Irish exporters continue to increase their share of global markets and as such are entirely reliant upon the industry. The Irish importer is also equally dependent upon either sea or air carriage possibly combined thereafter with the need to arrange internal distribution by road or rail.
The law governing the transport of goods encompasses many different complex international conventions, national laws and standard terms and conditions adopted by different users in the industry. To be added to this mix is the ever increasing European directives which may impact upon European transport or European legs of world-wide distribution.
Mason Hayes+Curran’s transport of goods team is able to advise on all aspects of the international and domestic carriage of goods be it by sea, road, rail or air (or a combination of two or more of these different modes of transport). We have extensive experience in advising logistic companies, freight forwarders, leading importers and exporters, haulage companies and insurers on issues that arise from the transportation of goods such as advising on the different applicable regimes to different modes of transport, the limitation of claims, multi-modal issues.
If you feel that you would like to find out more about how the transport of goods team can assist you with either the drafting of appropriate transportation contracts or in relation to disputes that may have arisen from the carriage of goods please do not hesitate to contact Rory Kirrane as shown below
